This invention can be implemented as an analog solution or a digital solution in the form of a field. The analog version is too expensive to implement, so I will focus on the field form which can be implemented as an electronic device.
What is “Drag”? It is the resistance to the flow of any Fluid. By Fluid, I mean the fluid in Fluid Dynamics, meaning the resistance to any gas or liquid. In most cases this means air and water, but can specifically be applied to petroleum, liquified natural gas, food grade oils such as olive oil in pipelines.
Ok. Lets talk about water first. When you have a vessel pushing its way through the ocean or Great Lakes, it is displacing the water along its length as it goes. This water tends to grip the vessel with a small amount of suction – that is Drag. Molecule by molecule, draq is not very significant, but multiplied along the entire hull of the ship, it accounts for about 20 percent of the fuel used to power the ship from point A to point B. This is why planing hulls were developed; they push themselves out of the water and skim along the top of the water reducing the drag to about 10 percent.
I have figured out how to generate a field around the bottom of the hull of both displacement and planing hulls. This field sets up a barrier between the hull and the water and prevents Drag from forming. Yes, it eliminates Drag from water in both fresh and salt water environments. Just imagine how much money could be saved by the oil companies and the Navies of the World; 20% of their current cost to drill holes through the Oceans of the World. I call this the Water Drag Eliminator™.
Ok. Let’s talk about Air Drag. Take those same ships that stick up above the water; they are now pushing through the water without drag. They are going much faster as they no longer have a hull speed and they can go much further because they are not spending any fuel on Water Drag. Is there another field that can be generated that will eliminate the Air Drag? Yes. It has a different property because the density of Air is much less than that of water. But, yes, the resistance to the ship as it pushes through Gale Force Winds can be eliminated as well, even against flat surfaces exposed to direct wind pressure. By eliminating both Water and Air Drag, the ship can save approximately 30 percent in fuel costs and increase speed by another 30 percent. Time to get there and cost to get there, cut by 30 percent; thats a win-win.
What about jet planes? They go 600 miles an hour drilling through Air Drag. Yes, I know, they are aerodynamic and push through the air very efficiently. But, guess what, they are still spending around 40 percent of their fuel overcoming Air Drag. Ok, put a field around the airplane hull to eliminate Air Drag, what does that give you? You can go 40 percent further on the same fuel and get there 40 percent faster; happy passengers (lower fares and faster arrivals) and happy airline company (lower fuel costs, increased profits, happy passengers). This also means that you can fly more direct flights.
What about Trains? You know, those locomotives with 200 railcars full of coal or containers. Do they have significant levels of Air Drag to overcome? They are only moving at 25-50 miles per hour on average over the entire route. Is there a benefit gained by eliminating Ari Drag? Yes, but not so much as in ships or planes. The savings in fuel costs for trains would be around 8-10 percent and the increase speed would be in the 2-3 percent, if allowed by regulators. Instead of getting 60 miles per gallon of fuel, trains could get 66 miles per gallon.
What about cars and trucks? When you go fast against the air, the Air Drag goes up. With the Air Drag eliminated on cars and trucks, you can accelerate much faster, your engine is not working as hard, your cooling system is not working as hard, and, at highway speeds, you are saving around 33 percent in fuel costs; it doesn’t matter how small or large you are or whether you are streamlined or not.
One last area of usefulness. Say you have an Air Drag Eliminator™ field generator that you can set up when a tornado or a hurricane is heading at you. It is not going to stop the flooding, but it will eliminate the forcefulness of the winds; the Tornado will stop in its track when it encounters the field and the hurricane will not blow down your house or barn.
Pretty cool invention, huh?
